PARENTS – WORK WITH YOUR CHILD ON THESE REASONS WHY EVERY STUDENT NEEDS TO EARN A BLACK BELT

(Adapted from an article by Mike Huard – the Warrior-Sage)
So, your kid says: “I don’t want to go to Martial Arts anymore.”
True, it happens TO ALL PARENTS AT SOME POINT.
It’s normal for kids to say this and to feel like giving up at times.
This is when you as a parent can teach a good life-lesson and give your child a lifetime gift as well. Years of training and teaching will change their lives in positive ways. It’s not just physical skills; it’s more about mental strength. Training can also help to keep them out of trouble.
It’s not uncommon for your kids to be tired or bored from the repetition that’s needed. These days, some kids would rather play on their phones. Sometimes, it’s even the fear of not being good at the skills compared to others. All of this is normal.
Tell them: “It’s not about being perfect or just playing around for the fun of it; it’s about not giving up.”
Let them know: “Every black belt was once someone who refused to quit.”
Parents – please realize that if we allow our kids to quit everything that feels uncomfortable or difficult, or not fun, they won’t figure out how to handle real-life responsibilities.
Good Martial Arts study builds character, discipline, responsibility, and resilience. It’s great exercise too, so please consider joining the class along with your child, encourage them, and remind them it’s all part of their journey toward achieving something special. If they keep training for many years, it will literally change their life for the better!
REINFORCE WITH YOUR STUDENT THE BENEFITS OF EARNING THEIR BACK BELT
> Improved grades and performance at school and in sports and other activities
> Black Belts are mentally, physically, and emotionally healthy and strong
> Black Belts have a positive attitude built on a strong foundation of self-discipline and respect
> Black Belts have the confidence and self-esteem to confront all challenges in life and say NO to drugs
and negative peer pressure
> Black Belts have the knowledge and skills to defend themselves and others and stand up to bullies
Every student has the potential to earn their black belt – it’s not something you wear; it’s something you become.
